Every day there are more devices and gadgets available to us that do interesting or useful things. Every device needs a source of power though,A solar lamp is a portable light fixture composed of an LED lamp, a photovoltaic solar panel, and a rechargeable battery. so battery technology is also continuously developing. Now engineers at the University of Washington have created a wireless communication system that enables devices to interact with each other without needing batteries or cables for power. The ambient backscatter technique reflects existing cellular and TV signals already in the air. Antennas detect, harness and reflect a TV signal, which is then picked up by other similar devices. That means a whole a network of devices and sensors could communicate without a battery in sight. One application could be sensors monitoring a bridge or other structure that could send an alert back to base. I bet someone's going to claim they own those ambient RF signals and start charging for their use.

LED headlamps standard on Cascadias
Freightliner Trucks has announced that Truck-Lite high-visibility LED headlamps are now standard on all Freightliner Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution truck models.
The OEM said the long-lasting LED lights-- custom-engineered by Truck-Lite for the Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution-- offer superior nighttime driver visibility and enhanced safety, resulting in improved object recognition at night.Get the led fog lamp products information, find Best Motorcycle HID Kit, manufacturers on the hot channel.
Freightliner said the LED beam pattern also reduces eye-strain for drivers and minimizes harsh headlight glare to oncoming traffic.
Additionally, per the OEM, the LED lights reduce the draw on the vehicle's electrical system, freeing up power for other uses and resulting in a 50-times longer lighting system life than conventional halogen technology. The headlamps underwent "vigorous field testing in a variety of extreme weather conditions."
"We want every component on our products to not only be cost-efficient,Most modern headlight designs include Wholesale HID Kit. but to enhance vehicle safety and productivity," said Mary Aufdemberg,We carry a extensive line of Parking Lot Lighting inventory. director of product marketing for Freightliner Trucks. "The Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution are industry leaders in safety, driving experience and lowest total cost of ownership, and LED headlamps further enhance the products."
In January 2013, Freightliner Trucks offered the custom headlamp as an aftermarket and factory-installed option for the Cascadia and Cascadia Evolution, and is now offering it as standard equipment "due to positive customer response to the benefits delivered. An emergency light is a battery-backed lighting device that comes on automatically when a building experiences a power outage."
Freightliner also announced that its 2014 Cascadia Evolution model has surpassed more than 15,000 orders since the start of production in March. "The Cascadia Evolution is pacing the industry in terms of order intake for long-haul applications that demand the highest level of fuel efficiency," declared the OEM.
According to Freightliner, powered by the newly designed Detroi DD15 engine, the Cascadia Evolution "features aerodynamic and efficiency improvements that deliver up to an additional 7%improvement in fuel economy over an EPA 2010-compliant Cascadia, and up to 5% improvement in fuel efficiency over the 2013 Cascadia with first-generation aerodynamic enhancements."
"Surpassing 15,000 orders highlights the demand from our top customers to acquire today's vehicle benchmark in terms of fuel efficiency," said David Hames, general manager, marketing & strategy for Freightliner's parent, Daimler Trucks North America.
A Portland LED specialist is using a $150,000 grant to further develop a coating material that could help users save billions in lighting costs. How are solar outdoor lighting products different from other lighting, like fluorescent or incandescent?
Pacific Light Technologies believes its coating could increase the efficiency of light-emitting diodes by up to 50 percent, as well as generate rays that emit "warmer tones" as opposed to the bluish-white light the LEDs typically emit.
"We believe we can precisely control the size of the quantum dots in the 5-10 nanometer range and therefore control the color of the light emitted from LEDs," Herman said in a release. "This project is an ideal fit for our lab and my interests because of its focus on nontoxic materials and improving energy efficiency. If the world could move to all LED lighting, the total energy savings would be huge."
"The Cascadia Evolution provides the industry a truck that pays immediate dividends by dramatically reducing overall total cost of ownership," he added. Welcome to www.hmhid.com Web. If you love it, please buy it!

Calling all dictators
Endowed with more space than its predecessor - 12mm more knee room and 9mm more shoulder room - Mercedes-Benz has fitted it with lavish new features like their "first-class rear suite". This optional extra is an extension of the centre console through the middle of the rear bench, dividing it into two separate chairs.
Equally mind-blowing is something called Pre-Safe Impulse that will, in the event of a collision, see the seat belts pulling front passengers away from the direction of the impact. Those sitting in the back of the car will benefit from the Pre-Safe rear package that includes, among other innovations, an air bag built into the seat belt.
But perhaps the greatest innovation in the new S-Class is its ability to trundle through traffic with almost no input from the driver. Combining the powers of Distronic Plus - the firm's adaptive cruise control system - Steering Assist and something called Stop & Go Pilot,How solar panel cells work and where to buy solar kits for home use. this close to two-ton monolith can steer, brake and accelerate all by itself at speeds of up to 60km/h.

But if the car in front does something odd - like veer off the road - the W222's sensors will automatically tell the S-Class to follow the road markings to avoid an accident.

A similar amount of digital wizardry has been worked into the lighting system.
Already armed with up to 56 LEDs - you won't find a single conventional light bulb in the new S-Class - each headlight benefits from Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus.
The aforementioned cameras monitor road conditions and adjust the distribution of light accordingly - which allows you to have the beams on bright without the risk of blinding other road users.
Standard in the S500 and optional in the rest of the S-Class range is another extraordinary see-in-the-dark feature: Night View Assist Plus.
It combines the powers of both an infrared and a thermal imaging camera, to turn night into day - and alerts you to any pedestrians or animals lurking on a road's unlit shoulders.
If a person is detected, then a special module inside the headlight flashes at them several times.
The lights don't flash when an animal is detected because animals' reactions to light stimuli are unpredictable. Who knew a car could be so considerate?
Later in the day, after being forced to extricate myself from the back seat, I finally get a chance to experience the new S-Class from the driver's perspective.
And, as is to be expected, it proves to be the most comfortable and refined machine I've piloted in ages.
Shipping standard with air suspension and continuously adaptive damping, it floats down the road like Aladdin on an extra-soft flying carpet.
Stretch to the S500 or range-topping S63 AMG and you can even fit the optional Magic Body Control system.
Again, drawing on the stereoscope camera which is always scanning the road ahead, this trick bit of tech detects bumps or potholes in front of the car and immediately adjusts the suspension. More information about the program is available on the web site at www.indoorilite.com.

Cree LED bulb
Simon launched the new High Power LED Flashlight T6 Pro with Cree LED bulb to address military and law enforcement needs for a quality right-weighted and/or mountable flashlight in certain tactical situations. Through careful design and two-phase quality control Simon has achieved a product with many advantages over those currently on the market.
The mini high power flashlight Cree LED bulb emits a maximum of 500 lumens, so bright that it has a blinding effect. This enables the operator effectively to neutralize, disable, and/or disarm actual and potential assailants, thereby preventing dangerous and threatening circumstances from escalating.
The Simon torchlight can be held by hand or mounted on a tactical weapon. Its compactness and ideal weight of eight ounces make you realize that you are carrying something without it bogging you down.
The T6061 aircraft-grade aluminum anodized black body makes for a rugged high power flashlight that is durable and built to last. The unique dial focus ring is anodized silver to visually mark it as a consumer version of its law enforcement model T6 Pro. The dial focus provides a versatile adjustable16 settings. This allows the operator to adjust the beam anywhere in a continuum that goes from tight and concentrated to a broad fan.
Law enforcement officials and military personnel require reliable LED tactical flashlights on an ongoing basis to defuse tense and life-threatening situations such as ambushes or crimes in progress. The luminance must be overwhelmingly bright to gain advantage over the criminals and assailants.
The Simon Mini High Power T6 Pro fits the bill famously. It is also easily attached to most LED tactical standard rail or slide clamp so that both weapon and blinding light can be focused on the perpetrators simultaneously with full control.
This powerhouse Cree flashlight lends itself to recreational uses as well. Six LED challenges that still remain
While LED based solid-state lighting continues to gain ground, and several major challenges have been solved, some still remain. Energy savings and the savings that a long product lifetime brings certainly have spurred adoption in a long list of applications. Cities, sports facilities, retail, medical, residential and industrial use, are all on the rise. The move to LED-based solid-state lighting is gaining ground based on the promise of energy savings and long lifetime. Six key challenges are:
(1) Dimmer Compatibility
LED drivers that implement digital dimming analysis have greatly improved performance over analog predecessors, helping to ensure compatibility with a much wider range of dimmers. However, issues still remain,Heavy duty off-road LED light bars and vehicle LED auxiliary lights, portable and fixed Motorcycle Projector Lens Manufacturers and replacement bulbs. due to the broad range of existing, installed dimmer types, including TRIAC dimmers (leading-edge, trailing-edge, electronic) and 0 to 10V linear/PWM dimmers found primarily in commercial installations. The newest digital LED drivers can analyze the specific dimmer type, apply the optimal algorithm to adapt, eliminate flicker and maintain high efficiency.
(2) Light Flicker
Unlike incandescent lighting,This page is the collection of excellent High quality LED Strip lights in this season. where the tungsten filament element exhibits a long time constant, LED lighting responds instantly to changes in drive current, so current ripple and supply glitches will result in light flicker. The issue of flicker is still often glossed over by manufacturers but it is still a challenge.
(3) Color Temperature (especially during dimming)
Consumers are accustomed to incandescent bulbs, which have a color temperature that “warms” as they are dimmed. Warmer light is associated with the ambiance in a dimmed environment and is what consumers naturally prefer. Most dimmable LED lighting today results in a dull, harsh white light. While this is an improvement over the “yellow” that we lived with only a few years ago, it is not yet what it needs to be.
(4) Thermal Management and Operating Lifetime
One of the claimed benefits of solid state lighting is lower total cost of ownership,LED solar lights for project list and power. primarily based on longer operating life, which reduces replacement costs. SSL manufacturers claim typical operating lives of 20X to 50X that of incandescent bulbs. However, poor thermal design and management can dramatically reduce the actual operating life well below what is claimed in lighting marketing literature. The temperature inside a closed lighting fixture can easily rise above 60°C and at these elevated temperatures, the passive components in the LED driver circuit, including electrolytic capacitors,The first kit is known as a LED Lamp Wholesalers. will see reduced operating lifetimes and could result in a thermal runaway condition. LED drivers with robust thermal management can mitigate this problem and help SSL manufacturers ensure a predictable and safe bulb operating life.
(5) Cost
The cost of LED bulbs continues to reduce and is already approaching a point acceptable to consumers.Welcome to www.soli-lite.com Web. If you love it, please buy it! The ongoing education of consumers on total cost of owner ship, especially as it relates to lower replacement costs and lower energy usage will gradually address the perceived cost issue. Also, incentives provided by government entities and utility companies will provide additional motivation for consumers to move to SSL lighting and experience the benefits directly.
(6) Confusion
Change happens slowly. Many LED products exist and are marketed to a confused public used to paying pennies compared to tens of dollars per bulb. While cost is an important issue, so is how to select a bulb for a particular application. What It may be that the market is just evolving extremely rapidly and knowledge and perceptions will catch up, it seems that companies would benefit by doing more to bring the slow-to-change public along. Patent Issued for LED Drive Circuit
News editors obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: "The present invention is related to drive circuits for semiconductor devices, and in particular drive circuits for interconnected light emitting diodes (LEDs).
"LEDs are semiconductor photon sources that can serve as highly efficient electronic-to-photonic transducers. They are typically forward-biased p-n junctions fabricated from a semiconductor material that emits light via injection electroluminescence. Their small size, high efficiency, high reliability, and compatibility with electronic systems make them very useful for a multitude of applications. Recent advancements have yielded high-power LEDs in a range of colors.Find great deals on Hmhid for HID Off-Road Lights products in LED Lights. This new generation of LEDs is useful in applications requiring a higher intensity light output such as high-power flash lights, airplane lighting systems, fiber-optic communication systems, and optical data storage systems.
"High-flux lighting solutions are required by various modern applications such as street lighting, airport/airplane lighting systems, pool lighting systems, and many others. Most of aftermarket hid Slim/Normal Ballast HID Kit for motorcycle are similar or the same with following one. In order to achieve additional luminous output, multiple LEDs are often arranged in various configurations or arrays. These arrays may take nearly any shape and usually include several individual LEDs.
"In order to further increase luminous output, several LED arrays may be grouped together on a surface. Providing the necessary electrical connections to power the LED arrays can be challenging. The layout of the individual LEDs on the array surface determines where the input and output connections must be located on the surface and how the LED arrays must be arranged so that they can be connected together. Many of the connections and underlying circuitry for powering and controlling LED output are provided for by drive circuits.
"Typically, LEDs are grouped together and sold in sets, such as a roll or a strip. These LEDs must typically be cut in the field by an installer to a desired length or configuration for a given application, such as lighting elements for a sign. One problem in that arises is cutting the undesirable LEDs from the set also cuts the underlying drive circuitry. This causes the drive circuitry to form an open circuit, thereby rendering the LEDs retained for installation inoperable without additional rewiring. Rewiring the drive circuitry takes time and additional tools, and can be cumbersome to perform in the field."
As a supplement to the background information on this patent,The LED street light project accounts for one-third of the targeted 20% carbon footprint reduction for the City. VerticalNews correspondents also obtained the inventors' summary information for this patent: "One embodiment of the present invention provides a drive circuit system having a retained circuit branch and a removable circuit branch connected together. The removable circuit branch also connects to an electrical ground, so that the removable and retained circuit branch form a closed drive circuit. After searching around the Lights section of this forum, I've come across two main suppliers for Wholesale HID XENON Kits. Holiday Road Light
The Holiday Road Light Show could move to a Ferrysburg park this year, depending on what happens tonight at a city council meeting.
Organizer Brad Boyink is set to present his proposal to hold the annual holiday Christmas light display at Coast Guard Park, located off of North Shore Drive,You will never need to change the bulbs and your car led lights will last for years and years. said City Manager Craig Bessinger.
The meeting is scheduled fro 7:30 p.m. July 15 at Ferrysburg City Hall, 17290 Roosevelt Road.
The proposal asks the Ferrysburg City Council to let Holiday Road Charities, Inc. – a newly formed group led by Boyink that was created to operate the shows and donate its proceeds to other charities – build the display in the park and to use the site for three years.
If approved, the LED light and music show will start on Nov. 29, the day after Thanksgiving,An electronic overspeed governor for preventing elevator overspeed by enabling safety devices. and run through Christmas.
The attraction would be open from Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Monday. Proceeds from the event would be donated to Special Olympics.
The display would include five miniature storage units, with facades crafted to resemble a 1950s main street.
During most of the year, the units would hold the wire frames, lights and other equipment needed to run the show while also serving as a play area for visitors, Boyink said.
The show would be placed in between the park's tennis courts and baseball field. Spectators could either make their way through the driveway or park their car and walk to the see display up close, Boyink said.
The synchronized light and music show began in 2006, when the lights outside his Spring Lake Township home on Heather Court attracted thousands of visitors.
Because the attention caused so much traffic in his cul-de-sac neighborhood, he teamed up with the Grand Haven Rotary Club to present it on Harbor Island, where it ran for two years before Boyink decided to use a new location due to weather damage, vandalism and other issues.
In 2009, Boyink teamed up with his neighbors and brought the show back to his neighborhood but moved the show's location yet again in 2012 after he moved from the neighborhood. That year, the show took place indoors at an empty retail space at the Pointes Mall in Norton Shores.
That move didn't work out well for the show, said Boyink. Past shows typically brought in around 70,000 people, he said, but last year's display only drew 20,000.
"People didn't want to go inside," he said, explaining that no matter how hard they tried, they couldn't convince most people to check out the display.
Boyink said he and his team have been planning this year's event since December.
They knew they wanted to move it back outside, but set polls up on the show's Facebook page to get fans' feedback. They overwhelmingly voted to move it back outdoors and to hold it in the Tri-Cities area.
Once they had that information, he said, they began searching for appropriate sites before settling on Coast Guard Park, which was picked because it had many of the same attributes as the neighborhood where the show started.
The length of the route is about the same as it was back at the Heather Court neighborhood, Boyink said, and because the show will take place inside the park, much of the traffic will be contained within the park's borders instead of the street most nights.
In addition, the park would have more viewing room than the neighborhood did, which should also help traffic move along faster, he said.
The group has also planned to cover the costs associated with the event, including electrical usage, insurance, building maintenance and police resources, according to the proposal.
"A lot of planning has gone into this up to this point," Boyink said. "We didn't just pick a location."
The proposal has already been presented to the city's Recreation Commission, which unanimously recommended that City Council approve the show for this year only and review its performance and impact early next year. Click on their website www.hmhid.com for more information.

Musi river
The much abused Musi river and its surroundings are in for better days. Not just its ecological state but the squatter and slum settlements along the river can hope for improvement. The Musi Heritage Precinct Revitalisation Project promises to breathe new life into the river, which has been reduced to an open sewer.
The project, shortlisted under the Inclusive Heritage-Based City Development Programme (IHCDP),I'm not sure how HID Bi-Xenon Projector Lens Lights fit into that equation if they are left on. plans to address issues along the entire 21.5-km stretch of the Musi river, with special focus on the heritage precinct within,Find great deals on Hmhid for HID Off-Road Lights products in LED Lights. spread over 4.29 km. World Bank official Stefania Abakerli and representatives of Cities Alliance and Centre for Environment Planning and Technology (CEPT) University, Ahmedabad, are arriving here on Friday to discuss the detailed project report (DPR) prepared by CEPT for the revitalisation of the Musi river.
Hyderabad is among the four cities chosen by the Ministry of Urban Development for piloting the project. The three others are Ajmer,The Car LED Daytime Running light produces comfortable light which is very close to the natural light emitted by the sun. Pushkar and Varanasi.
The IHCDP wants to bring traditional neighbourhoods, streetscapes, cultural expressions, handicrafts and traditional socio-economic practices under the inclusive heritage development. The heritage cell of the GHMC, which is executing the project, has identified Monda Market and Old Jail, Pan Bazaar and Jagganath Swamy temple, Karwan Road and Musi revitalisation for development. However, the Government of India has selected the last one for improvement.
“The project, estimated to cost Rs. 50 crore,Most modern headlight designs include Wholesale HID Kit. will be funded by the World Bank,” says K. Srinivas Rao, Additional Director, Heritage Cell, GHMC.
The project has been divided into three distinct components in tune with the physical character of the river stretch. They are: the ecological precinct from Tippu Khan bridge to Puranapul (7.28 km), the Heritage Precinct from Puranapul to Chaderghat bridge (3.98 km) and the Metropolitan Precinct from Chaderghat bridge to Nagole bridge (8.64 km).
A number of physical interventions and infrastructure development, besides aesthetic enhancement, are proposed at all these spots. “We are also looking at livelihood and community linkages while making physical interventions,” says Mr. Rao, who is coordinating the project. The heritage-specific interventions aim at restoring the physical character on identified stretches while upgrading the quality of public amenities and services. The local economy is sought to be revitalised through strengthening local informal markets by provision of hawker and vending zones in a regulated manner. Service delivery and infrastructure are planned to be revived at the public level rather than at the household level. This includes better roads, landscaping, lane pavement, solar street lighting and street furniture.
Heritage upgrade of the area is also on the cards. As many as 35 structures of heritage relevance have been identified near the Musi river. Apart from their restoration, a heritage route, with access to the Charminar Pedestrian Project (CPP) precincts, is also proposed. The most important aspect - rather the defining element - of the project is facilitating better engagement of communities within the Musi Heritage Precinct.
For this, development of the Puranapul pedestrian causeway has been proposed. Temporary shelters for vendors have been planned on the hoary Purnapul bridge, restoring the stone wall of the Musi embankment at Jumerat Bazaar, Puranapul and Chudi Bazaar.Know about LED Brake Lamp Manufacturers conversion kit and Bi-xenon HID kit. Permanent stalls are proposed at the weekly shanty at Jumerat Bazaar to regulate the market. The sprawling ground will be paved with cobble stones. Hawker zones with amenities like lighting, plantation and off-street parking will be provided.
At Muslimjungpul, where pigeons abound, a bird feeding zone is proposed. Street lights, furniture and information signages will be put up there. Besides, promenades have been planned from Chaderghat bridge to Imlibun bus station and from Muslimjung bridge to Shivaji bridge. “At all these places, vending zones, landscaping and lighting will be provided,” says Mr. Rao.
Unfortunately, the river front development done by the GHMC in front of the High Court has proved a damp squib. Commissioning of the STP at Attapur by the Water Board is expected to improve water quality.
Grass cultivation in the Musi river bed is another stumbling block for the authorities. According to revenue records, there are 57,721 square yards of government land and 68,924 square yards of patta land. There is a dispute on this, with the grass cultivators claiming that the agriculture patta was given to them by the Nizam, while the GHMC says it is not so. Airing attic concerns
Ventilation plays the role in controlling attic moisture in the winter and hot air in the summer. Care should be taken to seal around all the openings in the attic floor, such as ceiling light fixtures, plumbing stacks, exhaust fans and chimney chases.
Otherwise, warm moist air can escape into the attic, where it can condense and cause damage.
Roof ventilation is important because there are so many changes that have taken place in the roofing industry. A lot of homeowners are changing from cedar roofing to duriod roofing (such as fibreglass laminated roofing shingles), aluminum or steel roofing.
As soon as you remove a roof and put on a new roof, you must address ventilation. Keep in mind air will leak from the living area up into the attic area through light fixtures, electrical wiring, plumbing pipes, attic access hatches and so on.
The moist warm air that moves from the living space to the attic can cause issues in the attic such as ice damming and staining on the underside of roof sheathing.
A cedar roof vents over the entire surface of the roof because the individual shingles are nailed to strapping on the roof.
If you have any synthetic roofing material installed on your roof, the roofer will use tar paper or roof seal materials underneath the roofing material, so you have to increase the amount of ventilation to compensate because your roof no longer vents over the entire surface. For every 300 square feet of roofing surface, you must have at least one square foot, or 144 inches, of venting. Every vent you buy today has an indicator stamped on it so you know how many square inches of ventilation that vent provides.
I recommend venting one square foot of venting for every 200 square feet; that way you are getting more than adequate venting. The Car LED Daytime Running light produces comfortable light which is very close to the natural light emitted by the sun. The venting should be a mix 50 per cent on the roof and 50 per cent under the eaves (or soffits).
This distribution of venting will encourage the proper air flow in the attic space to minimize any possible concerns associated with attics that are improperly vented.
Attic insulation: Fibreglass and cellulose are the most commonly used for insulation in today's homes. Fibreglass insulation is spun from molten sand and recycled glass into fibre.
Cellulose insulation is made from recycled newspapers, which is treated with a chemical-flame retardant. Both fibreglass and cellulose insulation can be made into 'loose-fill' insulation, which can be blown into attics using a blowing machine. The world’s most efficient and cost effective hid lights? Fibreglass insulation also comes in "batts" - precut pieces of insulation that vary in width and length.

Try tax hike again in fall
Several local residents urged Gahanna City Council to place an income-tax levy back on the ballot in November to allow more voters to decide.
A proposal to increase Gahanna's income-tax rate from 1.5 to 2.5 percent was defeated by 122 votes in May, with only a small percentage of the city's residents going to the polls.
City leaders say more revenue is needed because of a $12.8 million budget gap between the projected general-fund revenue and identified needs for 2014. The gap is estimated at $8 million in 2015 and $9.7 million in 2017.Get the led fog lamp products information, find Best Motorcycle HID Kit, manufacturers on the hot channel.
Resident Tom Wester, who's a Planning Commission member, said he has lived in Gahanna for 19 years and supports a levy for several reasons.
During that time, he said, several subdivisions have been built, such as Rathburn Woods, Hensel Woods, Crossing at McKenna Creek, Academy Woods and Harrison Pond.
In 1987, Wester said, the city had 50 miles of streets. Today, it has 134 miles of streets to maintain. In addition to more street maintenance, he said, the city has more traffic signals and signs,Most modern headlight designs include Wholesale HID Kit.Hmhid has been a long time valve Single Beam HID KIT provider for many world class companies. streetlighting costs and mileage for police patrol.
"The city is at a crossroads," Wester said. "The mayor's June 24 presentation to City Council presented the operational vision for the city without increased revenue. The time has come to realize that the needs are outgrowing the resources."
Resident George Mrus commended finance director Jennifer Teal for the job she has done and for delivering the difficult news to council and the public.
He implored council members to put the issue back on the ballot. Mrus said it would be a dereliction of duty to withhold residents the opportunity to vote on the tax question. Resident Kate Kautz said she wants the city to keep the current tax rate.
"Last week's financial forecast by the mayor and finance director was very discouraging and disconcerting," she said. "The presentation was discouraging in its gloomy forecast of the next 18 months, with no glimmer of a silver lining without a tax increase."
Kautz said the forecast contains an inherent assumption that revenues of existing businesses would remain flat and need to be supplemented through an increase in taxes.
"Gahanna is one of the few central Ohio communities with a low tax rate that favors our businesses -- present and future -- entrepreneurs and anyone employed anywhere but the city of Columbus," Kautz said. "My intention is to keep it that way.Takes one Footprint in wallbox and one local Module Rail space."
Gahanna-Jefferson Board of Education President Claire Yoder encouraged council to let the electorate to make the decision rather than the small percentage who voted in May. She said the school district is considering a tax levy in spring 2014.
"It's an investment in our community and kids," she said. "If you don't have a healthy community, you don't have healthy schools. Council member David Samuel said he was digging through 2010 notes from Gahanna's Citizens Financial Advisory Committee. It was a group of residents and businesspeople charged by the mayor to review the 2011 general-fund planned revenue and expenses and develop recommendations for the future.
"The closing paragraph hit me," Samuel said, reading, "In order for Gahanna to continue to be a top city for many to call home, to compete for future business and to continue its award-winning standards in education, citizens of Gahanna must be willing to invest, take some risks, hold many accountable and empower many more to work hard to attain the city's top potential.
